Lewis Mitchell
Born in Penzance in 1938, as a young artist Mitchell was encouraged to paint by such masters as Alexander Mackenzie and Terry Frost, who regarded his talent as being "the real thing".
His paintings are both primitive and distinctive, often depicting ships or small tugboats, his vibrant blue seas against the colourful landscapes capturing the glory of sun-drenched bygone summers.
Mitchell has held successful exhibitions in Bristol, London and Edingburgh.
