David Barnes
Depicting whitewashed cottages on a lane leading to a bay with the peninsula in the background.
David Barnes paints with a palette knife in the distinctly Welsh tradition of landscape painting. And he is in good company as he joins the likes of Sir Kyffin Williams and more recently, Gwilym Prichard, Wynne Jenkins, Wilf Roberts and David Grosvenor.
Born in Africa Barnes has no formal training.. He began painting in 2008 and his first exhibition, held during Herefordshire’s open studio week in September of that year, was a virtual sell-out.
An enduring feature of David Barnes work is his love for North Wales. The muted earth and sky colours that dominate some of the artist's paintings hark back to a lifetime of walks in the countryside and coastline within easy reach of his home in in Hawarden, North Wales.
