Shirley Ann Owen
Shirley Ann Owen is one of the three members of 3ormore, a new artists' group in Wales which has been set up to organise exhibition opportunities, either for the group, or acting as a hub with the capacity to include one or more guest artists in specific exhibitions and projects.
In 2008 she successfully won an application from The Arts Council of Wales to fund for a six week project concerning National Trust sites on the Welsh Coast which are at risk from rising sea levels. Drawing and painting out of doors at these sites in February and March and completing further work in the studio on her return, Owen exhibited over fifty pieces in The Washington Gallery in Penarth and The Gallery at St. Brides in Saundersfoot. The subject of coastal erosion is a continuing theme.
"My art practice is a response to the familiar everyday environment as it changes over time. Fleeting moments at a specific time and place which instantly become part of memory, old family photographs of relations I have never met; a memory brought to mind by a line of poetry."
